Peruvian textiles by Maximo Laura, one of Latin Amerca’s most prolific textile artists. Maximo Laura is a Peruvian award winning textile artist known worldwide for his tapestries that intertwine ancestral Peruvian techniques, symbols, memories and myths with contemporary aesthetics. All Laura tapestries are hand woven with Peruvian alpaca and available for purchase.
Because of his contributions to Peruvian textile history and identity, Maximo Laura was recently designated as one of Perus Living Human Treasure, an award given, following UNESCO guidelines, to an artist whose role is to elevate and preserve the culture of its homeland.
