Preserve a Dying Art and Culture with a Hispanic Tapestry

Maximo Laura works closely with traditional Andean and Hispanic tapestry designs to create amazing masterpieces that you won’t find anywhere else. Through his weaving, he’s able to send a powerful message and tell inspiring stories of ancient myths and legends. And you have the opportunity to have one of these pieces in your home.

Spectacular Hispanic Tapestries Available

From afar, his pieces look full of color blocks and shapes to create pictures and patterns, but you can appreciate the colors much better up close. You won’t find a single block of color – each shade is made up of a number of different colored yarns. Each color is hand-blended by an expert in Laura’s ‘color laboratory’ to create ‘butterflies’ of yarn. Each butterfly is a mix of different colors or shades to create the perfect look of bright and vibrant tones that Maximo Laura is known for in his work.

Little by little, his work soon comes to life thanks to his unique use of color. Peruvian Weaving and other Hispanic countries is an art passed down through generations, so most of our weavers have experience in traditional weaving as well as weaving the designs of Maximo Laura. Still, they are watched closely to make sure every detail is perfect.

The yarn used to weave the Hispanic tapestries is the same that is used to create clothing, so it comes with a protection for light to keep the colors looking bright. As long as the tapestry is placed where there is a barrier from direct sunlight, even if it’s just a window, the colors will stay vibrant for years to come.

How to Best Display your Hispanic Tapestry

The way that Laura suggests you display your piece is to hang it with 2 metal rods: one for the top sleeve of the tapestry and another for the bottom. This hanging method is achieved by hanging the tapestry with out of sight rods that are a bit shorter in length than the tapestry. We recommend using metal rods because they weigh more and the more weight there is at the bottom of the tapestry, the more tension will be made once the Hispanic tapestry is hanging and the piece will look its best.

Choose your Hispanic Tapestry Today

Whether it’s to remember your time in Peru or to wow your guests, a Maximo Laura tapestry will do both perfectly. His work is so unique, you won’t find it in your average art store as it’s all handmade to order. Only one weaver will work on each tapestry to make sure that it is of the highest quality and each piece will come with a certificate of authenticity sewn into the back of the Hispanic tapestry and checked and signed by Laura himself.

You can join places like the World Bank in Washington D.C., the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian in owning one of Laura’s pieces.
