Come share with us a 10-day tapestry weaving workshop designed and taught by Maximo Laura for weavers of all levels of experience.
You will learn, hands-on, the process and techniques used by Maximo Laura in a unique learning environment, taught by the master himself.
WHERE
The workshop will take place in Cusco – Peru, a UNESCO World Heritage Centre.
Specifically, the workshop will take place within the hotel Sonesta Posada del Inca Yucay, in the Sacred Valley of the Incas (also known as the Sacred Valley of Cusco or Sacred Valley of Urubamba), 1:30 hours away from the city of Cusco
We have decided to organize the workshop in Cusco because it is a fascinating region to explore, especially if you are a textile lover! Cusco is the archeological capital of South America, with some of the most important ruins of the Inca empire and wonderful places to explore for textiles and folk art.
The itinerary also includes a guided City Tour of Cusco so you can get to know its beautiful streets, galleries, shops and cafes. We’ll show you Cusco’s artistic neighborhood, as well as our favorite spots to find art and textiles!
HOTEL & SURROUNDINGS
The workshop will take place in the conference room of the hotel Sonesta Posadas del Inca Yucay in the Sacred Valley of Cusco, a hotel with a colonial style architecture, surrounded by mountains, gardens and with modern amenities.
Inside the hotel you'll find 2 restaurants (a main restaurant with à la carte menu and a second restaurant specializing in pizzas and pastas) and a beautiful coffee shop.

In the surroundings of the hotel we can find a beautiful landscape with archaeological sites, fields, crops and the most special thing, an ancient Inca trail perfect for morning or afternoon walks.

WORKSHOP ITINERARY
Day 1 (May 1, 2027): Arriving to Cusco
We will pick you up from the Cusco airport and take you to your accommodation in the Sacred Valley of Cusco.

City Tour of Cusco
By this day we’ll all be acclimated to Cusco’s altitude, so we’ll be ready for a tour of Cusco city!
We’ll visit Maximo’s gallery/museum where he’ll show us his private collection of tapestries, to then go out and explore San Blas, Cusco’s artistic neighborhood.

Finishing and cleaning process of your piece. Exibition of final works at the end of the day.
Day 10 (May 10, 2027):

We will take you from your accommodation in Cusco to the airport for your departure.

We will take you from your accommodation in Cusco to the airport for your departure.
PRICE
We have created 3 different plans, designed to be flexible to the desires of each participant, please find the details of each plan below.
The payments can be made online, with a debit or credit card, through a payment link that we provide, or it can be made through a bank wire transfer.
The payments are divided in three parts:
1. An initial deposit of US$ 700 to reserve your spot
2. An interim payment due on July 31st, 2026
3. A final payment due on November 30th, 2026

What a great workshop! I loved everything about it. There was so much material packed into each day, and having our looms and materials prepped ahead of time allowed us to immediately focus on the techniques in our samplers.
Máximo and his master weavers were immensely patient, knowledgeable and helpful, answering all our questions, showing us again and again, and getting us out of our messes with kindness. We worked hard but the workshop was well paced… so much so that we all finished our projects within a short time from each other.

As a relatively novice tapestry weaver, I felt appropriately challenged but also satisfied with the level of teaching. I learned a lot about new tapestry techniques and about how to combine and transition colors in the weft - something I so admire in Maximo's work.
